What's On

Opera North's and Nevill Holt's Così fan tutte

Join us in the beautiful setting of Nevill Holt Festival for a fresh take on love, deception & disguise with Così fan tutte.

The centrepiece for this year’s festival, this visually stunning new production of Mozart’s Così fan tutte from Opera North brings you a world where nothing is quite as it seems. Love, loyalty, and control are put to the test. Directed by Cecilia Stinton, this reimagined classic explores shifting perspectives and hidden truths — leaving us questioning: Who’s really in control? Who’s watching whom?

This opera will be sung in English and feature English surtitles.

Così fan tutte is a co-production between Opera North and Nevill Holt Festival

DON ALFONSO

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

So much more than just the opera, this year’s Nevill Holt Festival brings you a host of theatre, music, art, culture and food, all set amongst the idyllic Leicestershire Countryside.

When the cunning Don Alfonso challenges two young couples to test their love, a whirlwind of mischief, disguises, and seduction ensues. Can love withstand temptation, or will the bet prove that faithfulness is just an illusion?

Under the baton of Chris Hopkins, this production brings Mozart’s exquisite score to life, featuring a stellar cast.

Opera North is a national opera company based in Leeds and a leading UK arts organisation. Rooted in the North of England, international in outlook, we believe opera, music and live performance is for everyone.

Our aim is to make bold, innovative, inspiring work and share it in new ways. Our award-winning productions tour to theatre stages and concert halls throughout the North and beyond. Alongside this, we curate an ambitious artistic programme in the Howard Assembly Room and a concert season with the full-time Orchestra of Opera North.

This production of Così fan tutte will be sung in English.

Nevill Holt Festival

The festival will continue to present a varied and rich programme of events in addition to opera that includes a wide range of talks and ‘in conversation’ events on visual art, culture, history, politics, wellbeing, sport and design as well as jazz, classical and world music performances, family events and comedy. See the full programme here.

With panoramic views that look out over three counties, performance venues include the estate’s medieval chapel and award-winning theatre, with idyllic gardens designed by Chelsea gold medal winner, Rupert Golby. Festival-goers can enjoy outstanding pieces of modern British sculpture throughout the gardens, including works by Antony Gormley, Rachel Whiteread, Allen Jones and Marc Quinn
