What's On
Dead Poets Live and DRET Children’s Poetry Performance
Dead Poets Live performs alongside a talented selection of East-Midlands students, together presenting the best possible introduction to poetry through a series of funny and engaging skits that bring the art form vividly to life. In partnership, the Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation and the David Ross Educational Trust are expanding their outreach to schools across the region, where 26 primary schools took part, and 11 finalists were selected to perform.
‘What is Poetry?’ answers that question by asking ‘What Does Poetry Do?’ You will hear poems from a great span cultures and ages, from the Songlines of Australia to the Old Testament prophets. You will discover poetry, not as something that belongs in books or a classroom, but as it really has been in human history.
Written for those studying at KS3 – suitable for all ages.

More About This Event
Dead Poets Live and DRET Children’s Poetry Performance:
The Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation are expanding their work with children and young people and ran a poetry performance competition across 26 state primary schools in the East Midlands. Finalists got to attend actor-led performance workshops, and 11 children were selected to perform at the Nevill Holt Festival in partnership with the David Ross Education Trust. New research is demonstrating the value of oracy in education, showing us how important it is to give children the opportunity to stand up in front of an audience and perform. Asking them to perform poetry asks them to get under the skin of a text, to live it and feel it. Come along and support the winners in a delightful performance of individually chosen poetry.
